Mayor visits Woodhall Farm success story

Pre-schoolers and staff at Woodhall Farm Community Centre were treated to a VIP visit and surprise puppet show from the town’s Mayor Jane Hogg on Tuesday 6 July.

Celebrating a 43% increase in users since its refurbishment, the Centre and Councillors Steve Holmes and Colette Wyatt-Lowe invited the Mayor on a grand tour, taking in the Woodhall Farm Pre-School and Koinonia Playgroup. The fortunes of the once ailing Centre were turned around after a new committee took over the running of it. A team of volunteers were drafted in to give the former farmhouse a bright new look.

The Mayor had brought with her a selection of puppets to entertain the youngsters who were enthralled by her puppetry and ministerial chain. Mayor Hogg and the children were also treated to a performance from Zimbabwean drummer Butshilo Nleya from WorldShapers Academy as part of the celebratory visit.

Mayor Hogg said that the Centre looked “superb” following its refurbishment by many volunteers from the estate. “It richly deserves all the success it’s having,” added Mayor Hogg.
