Woodhall Farm Pre-school

We are open for 5 mornings per week during school term time,

Monday to Friday 9.15am - 12.00

We also operate Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon sessions from

1pm - 3pm, and a day care from 9.15 - 3pm

Who is it for
We accept children from the age of 2 years 6 months until 5 years (although almost all leave pending the term of their 4 th birthday to start Nursery) beginning with 2 sessions, which can usually be increased once children have settled down.

Information on our staff members can be seen on our notice board at our front door. The door is alarmed for safety reasons.

Fees
Our fees are only £5.50 per session for the mornings, and £4.00 for the  afternoons, which must be paid even in the event of absence due to illness, holiday or appointments. You must give 6 weeks notice if your child is leaving before the end of normal term. If you are claiming some benefits you will be eligible for Support Scheme. Please contact us for more details, please see below for contact details.

In order to keep fees low we need to have a rota helper each day so we ask parents (or nominated family member or friend) to choose at least one day per half term to come in and experience the rewards of working with the children.

Books are also available to take home to be enjoyed with the family.

We have a Fund Raising Committee (new members always welcome) who ensure we have a wide variety of play equipment in good condition.

Donations of all sorts welcome, no matter how big or small as long as it is in good condition. Please check with a member of staff if you are not sure.

Also as a parent of one of our children, why not come and invest your time and skills them

About us
We were founded in 1979 for pre-school children to develop their full potential mentally, socially and physically in a happy relaxed atmosphere. We are situated in the main hall of the Community Centre, which is bright and spacious. We also have a large safe fenced out door play area for all year round use. We are an equal opportunities group, which strives to fulfil the needs of every child.

We are members of the Pre School Learning Alliance and are registered with Children, Schools and Family and Ofsted. Their inspection reports are available here. We have recently been awarded the Herts Quality Standards Kite Mark, which is a great achievement also a certification of the care and education that we provide for our children. We have a motivated staff team that are regularly training to update their knowledge and skills in child development. We promote Parents in Partnership. We feel that by working together, we can learn more about your children, their interests, and your expectations, which in turn gives us with you understanding of how your children learn.

At every session we provide some form of art, imagination play, building play, physical play, singing, stories, milk with a snack AND lots of fun with friends and the staff.

We cover the National Curriculum Early Learning Goals using games, toys and lots of repetition. We always remember that basics have to be learnt first - leaving your parent being the first big step, sharing, waiting, listening and following simple rules.

At every session we ask you to provide for your child:

  • A bag with a change of clothes (in case of toilet, paint or water accidents)
  • In bad weather a change of shoes
  • Please name your child's coat and put your child's name on his/her bag.
  • Please provide warm coats according to the weather as we like to make the most of the outside area.
  • We will provide a box to collect and carry home any artwork, books or information letters.
  • We also ask if you could make a voluntary donation of one apple per week per child as this contributes to the healthy snack that we provide.
  • Information on who will be collecting your child if not yourself. If not known beforehand a phone call or note to authorize the alternative person must be produced.
  • Finally if you have any problems or questions please do not hesitate to talk to us, we are always in the hall between 9.00 and 9.15am

Lunch club
For parents wishing their child to stay for lunch we now have a Lunch Club from 11.45 am till 12.45pm. Parents wishing their child to stay will need to give a weeks notice in advance to be included at £2.00 per session. The children really like the social side of eating and enjoying their food together. You would be surprised what they will eat when enjoying food together.

A lunch club information leaflet is available.

We also operate a very successful playscheme.
